Assembly machine cheaper than Far East Labour
Multi-function Cell gives quick payback

Special purpose assembly of a small plastic gearbox at rates of up to 2400 per hour has been achieved by ADM Automation.

This complex assembly machine, controlled by a Siemens PLC, utilises AFAG pick and place modules to assemble the 4 plastic moulded components in the assembly.

All components are fed using bowl feeders. A 12 station rotary indexer moves the product between each of the assembly stations. Vision inspection is also featured.

The complete machine is enclosed by guarding constructed from BOSCH aluminium profiles enabling continuous access for replenishment of materials.

To assemble this product manually would normally require 8 operators per shift. Automation of the process also brings significant quality improvements as operator errors are eliminated.
